Week 13

CLASS TEST 2!!! Again, i never study for test!! but luck was with me again and I got 9/15 marks!!!

Week 11 and 12

This two weeks are the E-LEARNING WEEK!! so that is no CDS CLASS!!!! haha.

Basically, during this two I still got to go online and post a comment on the the dicussion board of OLE and WIKI.

Also in lecture 7 i learnt about the criteria of evaluating internet resources and they are:

•Purpose
•Coverage
•Authority
•Accuracy
•Currency
•Accessibility
•Presentation and Arrangement
•Usability
•Overall Quality

Week 8, 9 and 10

During this 3 week, it is the term test period and term break.

However, I still got my Assignment to do. During the term break period, i source for information regarding to my topic on "The impact of Integrated Resort on Singapore Tourism Industry."

Week 7

CLASS TEST 1!!!!!!!!!!!

I go into the class without knowing there is a test on lecture 1-3!!! haha.
Luckily, based on what i had learn in lecture 1-3. I managed to got 8/15 marks for my class test!!

And also is the start on Assignment 2. So many Assignment to do!!

This week i also learnt how to evaluate internet resources.

Week 6

During the UIR class, I learn about the search stragtegies. Through this lesson or lecture, I am able to search for information much more effectively.

From the lecture, I had learn that there are 8 steps of rearch strategies and they are:

1.Define research topic
2.Locate background information
3.Decide where to look
4.Choose the appropriate search facility
5.Translate question into an effective search query
6.Perform search
7.Evaluate results
8.Refine search

Week 4 and 5

Through the activity done in week 4, I learnt that there is different search facilities and they are search engine, meta-search engine and subject directory. Moreover I learnt that there is different function in the 3 search facilities and is able to aid me in doing research in a must faster and efficient ways.

CONCLUSION
One of the main differences of all 3 search facilities how the result is generated. Search engine find matches to the searched term and generate the result. Meta search engine uses other search engine such as google and yahoo to find the result. Then it compiles the best results and deliver it for user. While subject directories, it generate result from the searched term but is not very effective. For example, searched term is “usage of blogging in business” the result generated might just be about Blog or categorize to different kind of blog.

The second differences are the search capabilities of the 3 search facilities. Search engines are able to generate millions of results and results are listed down in order of whether website is relevant to search topics. Therefore, I could say the search capabilities of search engines are very effective.
As for Meta search engines, it can give the best results as it actually compile all the results from different search engines and thus, results deliver are comprehensive and relevant.
Lastly for subject directories, the searched capabilities are not very effective as it could not give relevant information of topic search.

Overall, I would feel that Meta search engines are the most effective and best search facility among the three. Basically, it helps me to find the resources of the research topic. More importantly, it provides me with relevant website although it had only 59 results compare to search engines of 3,300,000 results. Search engines are capable of generating so many results, but not all results are relevant. Another plus point for Meta search engines is that it takes the results generated by the world leading search engine and deliver it for user.

Week 3

In week 3 i learnt about the different purposes of the resources. Below are some of the resources and their purposes.

    Reasons:
    The resource tells people that how effective weblogs can be and also provide online information on different blogs.

    Purpose of resource: Personal

    Reasons:
    This resource is designed by individual for doing businesses purposes. It provides information on how is the deal to be done.

  • Resource 3: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977083127

    Purpose of resource: Advocacy

    Reasons:
    This website actually tells us about this lady uses the web to publicize the advantages of using the blog to do businesses.


  • Resource 4: http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/business-blogging/benefits-for-media.html

    Purpose of resource: Information

    Reasons:
    This website is about the organization adopting blogs in the media industry. Also it tell some of the key benefits of blogging that media companies have seen, based on real-world blogs that are in use today.
